Hi I’m Megan with OSTechnical and today I want to talk about reality television, so I don’t know about you, but I am a huge reality tv buff and especially reality shows on bravo network. So, after watching this week’s episode of below deck, I thought there were some takeaways in the episode that I could share with everybody, both from a personal or professional standpoint.
Tips on do without naming any names. If you have watched, you might know who i’m talking about. If you don’t, you won’t be lost they’re good tips in general. But I was compelled and inspired by this week’s episode, so tip number one is when you’re feeling overwhelmed if you bit off more than you can chew.
Don’t panic. Don’t freak out. Keep your cool. Breathe. Take things in stride.
Take out instead of looking at everything and being overwhelmed at the whole picture. Think about it in little phases and what you can accomplish and bite off little chunks.
Also, don’t be afraid to delegate. People are more than help, usually more than happy to help if you give them duties or tasks that they can help you with, so you’re not feeling so overwhelmed.
Second tip I learned from this week’s episode is to. Always respect your superior, so it’s okay to have a disagreement. It’s okay to have a difference of opinion with your superior, whether that be your supervisor.
You know your boss, your owner. But be respectful. You can respectfully communicate your difference of opinion with out blowing up on them or coming across disrespectful. And that’s always going to get you a lot further in your career than popping off on your boss or your captain.
And take number three is. Jealousy is not a very it’s not a good look, and it’s it is a very unproductive emotion. So we’re always going to feel a little, you know, jealous of someone being successful. Or maybe a part of us feels like, oh, that should have been us. You know, if it’s a colleague being promoted or, you know, colleague winning a deal that you thought you deserved, you know, try to process those emotions, and it’s okay to feel sorry for yourself for a second. But being jealous isn’t going to get you anywhere. It’ll just make you look bad, especially if you lash out.
So I hope you enjoyed those little nuggets from reality television, and I hope that you enjoy reality tv as much as I.
